KEEP YOUR HOMES COOL IN THE HOT SEASON

With the onset of summers, what we keep drooling over is how unbearably hot it is going to get. While there’s not much that we can do while we are outdoors, we can surely try and keep our homes cool in the scorching heat season without heavily relying on the air conditioners. More so, it has become more than just imperative for us since this year, we are still going to be working from home and AC’s only help us with sound sleep.

Here are a few ways to keep the cool on an all-time high this summer season in the comfort of your homes.

All you need is dark curtains- Yes! You need to keep the blinds closed but what you also need is to invest in dark curtains so that they don’t let the direct sunshine in. These curtains block sunlight, naturally insulating the rooms creating a calm vibe.

It’s time to swap your sheets- Not only does seasonally switching your bedding freshen up a room, but it’s also a great way to keep cool. While the rule for summers is darker curtains, with sheets it’s lighter, the better. Also, light cotton sheets are a smarter move this time of year as it breathes easier and stays cooler.

Let the night air in- During the hot months, temperatures seem to drop during the night. Hence what you can do is make the most of these refreshing hours by cracking the windows before you go to bed. Just be sure to close the windows and blinds before things get too hot in the morning.

Also, ditch the incandescent lights- This is the correct time to make the switch to CFLs, or compact fluorescent lamps since the incandescent bulbs waste about 90 percent of their energy in the heat they emit. So tossing them to the curb will make a difference in cooling your home while also lowering your electric bill.

Lastly, focus on your body temperature- In order to curb the outside heat, it is also equally important to keep your body’s temperature in check. Hence drink more water and keep your body hydrated with more refreshing juices and smoothies. You can also include being smart about your clothing choices and picking colors and fabrics that keep you cool.

Now, you have all you need to say hi to the cool in the hot bling. All the best for working from home this hot season.
